Wow winter just keeps on coming! We have gotten nearly 36 inches of snow in the past week, and it still continues to fall! It honestly hasn’t stopped snowing for more than a few hours at a time since the storm hit last week!
So between snowboarding in POWDER (yep that stuff we don’t see on the East Coast very often) and cooking, I somehow manage to have to fight cabin fever off with a camera! I guess that’s just the life of a photographer. Anyways, the one day we had blue skies for a few hours I ran out side and grabbed some photos of the farm I grew up on.
After a drive that typically takes me an hour took me more than twice that long, I ended up getting stuck on the road to my parents house and had to walk the last half mile through more than 18 inches of snow. The next day I got my car out of the snow and headed to Seven Springs for some great skiing. After I could barely stand from hours of riding powder, the sun came out and I had a chance to take some photos around my parents house as the sun was setting.
I even got some photos of Willie my Welsh Corgie enjoying the snow in the driveway because it was to deep for him where it wasn’t plowed.
I hope that 2010 is off to a good start for you! I’m busy booking weddings, and skiing, but I wanted to take some time to create and share a slideshow using my print lab Pictage! I love these guys because they make life easy for you the client!
After your wedding, we upload your high-res photos to Pictage to back up your images off site. I’ll then create a slide show of my favorite images and send that out to you so you can share it with your friends. Your friends can then pick their favorite photos and order the prints they want with out ever asking you to order a photo for them!
So enjoy the slide show. Share it with your friends. I am still booking portrait shoots for winter activities. Portraits are for more than just your wedding day. Share memories with your dearest friends, or remember a special time with family photos. We can capture the life, love, and adventure that surrounds you.
If you haven’t booked your wedding yet lets talk. I include an engagement session in every “package”. If you already booked your wedding photographer, but still want to do an Engagement Shoot, give me a call. Engagement photographs are intended to capture the essence of who you are as individuals, and as a couple in love. Whether it’s a walk in the park, or basketball with your dog, we’ll spend 2-3 hours on-location, centered around activities you enjoy. I suggest a few wardrobe changes for more variety.
So without keeping you waiting any longer: Enjoy the slide show!
A lot of you have seen me tweet and post on Facebook about #BRESMA. BRESMA is a orphanage in Haiti run by Jamie and Ali McMurtie, two local girls from Pittsburgh. Their life, and the life of more than 150 orphans in their care, was transformed drastically by the Earthquake. Their houses were destroyed, their food and water stocks were low, and after nearly three days, they were out completely. Through cries of help through social media, (and lots of reaching out for connections with Twitter), Ali and more than 50 children are safely in Pittsburgh!
Here is a statement from the family that Virginia from Thats Church just posted.
A statement from the McMutrie family:
“We are so thrilled to be able to share with you that Ali McMutrie and the children from the Brebis de Saint-Michel de L’Attalaye (BRESMA) orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, arrived safely at Pittsburgh International Airport a short while ago. Jamie McMutrie will be following behind shortly. We will release a full statement as soon as we are able. In the meantime, thank you for your support during this trying time, and please continue to keep Haiti in your thoughts.”
God is good! While I dont know the girls personally, I do know their sister in law, and a number of their friends. And yet I still feel useless and helpless right now.
That is just a small victory in this massive war that is going on to save lives and rebuild a Nation.
So what do I see as the next step? I see massive amounts of medical support needed for a long time to come. Hôpital Albert Schweitzer Haiti is another local organization that is doing great work on the ground in Haiti. They have doctors working nearly around the clock, and according to friends that are close to the hospital, things like morphine are running VERY short, and they are in much need of supplies.
Please consider them for your donation and keep them and everyone working in Haiti in your prayers.
Ok, enough for today, time to get back to finishing two parent wedding albums so I can get these books into the hands of my anxious clients here in Pittsburgh.
