Tanya and Jon had a beautiful wedding at St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Allison Park, outside of Pittsburgh. Tanya’s father is the pastor of this beautiful orthodox church, so her nephew walked her half way down the aisle where she met Jon, and Father Paul (her father) to begin a beautiful ceremony. It was an interesting ceremony, as the photos will show, because they stop halfway down the aisle, have readings and do a ring ceremony, and then they moved to the front of the church while the maid of honor and best man stood behind them and held crowns over their head. From what I understand, they then walked around the alter three times to signify their marriage to each other, and God. Regardless, the ceremony was beautiful, as was the Church.

Today is a focus on the  the actual wedding photography, tomorrow I’ll focus on the reception at the beautiful Twleve Oaks Mansion in Cranberry, Pa.

Onto the photos!

Father Paul sat Tanya and Jon down on stools, and dedicated a song to them.  Unknown to me, this was foreshadowing the evening.DDS_9299(blog)

After the ceremony, we shot the family portraits inside the church, and then headed outside to grab a few quick photos before heading to the reception for some live music during cocktail hour, and a fun reception.

Just a detail of Tanya’s shoes.

On to Part 2 of Meghan and Todds photos.

Typically I don’t break blog posts into two parts, but as I mentioned via twitter (you can follow me @danspeicher), I am working on some new SEO tips that I received, and hoping that they work.

So here is the second part of Meghan and Todd’s wedding.

The Ceremony took place at the Duquesne University chapel. It is a beautiful church, and in my experiences there, they make it easy for photographers to get some great photos.

After the ceremony, we shot some group photos in the chapel, and then headed outside for the bride and groom to see their guests before we headed onto the limo and drove to Schenley Park for a picnic with the wedding party and their parents, and then some great photos.

After the Schenley Park photos, the parents went back to the hotel to relax for a little while, and we headed to Mt. Washington and PPG Plaza.

The reception took place at the Marriott City Center in Downtown Pittsburgh and we shot some great photos during the reception of dancing and having fun.

So now onto the photos, because that is what you have really been waiting for.

Thanks again guys, you were a lot of fun.

This is part one of two.

Meghan and Todd were married at Duquesne University Chapel in early September. But before we headed to Duquesne, we started at the Marriott City Center. There Meghan got her hair and makeup done, and we took some great photos of her getting ready and hanging out with her girls and dad before heading to the church. The Marriott is so easy to work with as a photographer, so I can only imagine how that transfers to a bride and groom. Every wedding that I have shot there has been smooth, and the reception has been effortless to work.

Onto the photos:
